Our HistorySaratoga Technologies (UK) Ltd. is a registered company that originated as a sister company of Saratoga Technologies, Inc, Tennessee (USA), and a subsidiary of Saratoga Software, which is headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa. Founded as a software development house for packaged business software, Saratoga now specialises in information and communications technology solutions for a wide range of markets. We bring to the table years of experience in the technology industry which means you don't have to know it all or do it all. We have encountered a wide variety of problems and solutions in every type of industry, and we have learned how to apply solutions to those problems in various ways and in various environments. Saratoga Technologies has provided business, medical, academic and other clientele with computer hardware, networking services and communications services for over 15 years. Our NameThe name Saratoga carries with it symbols of strength, unity and courage - the Battle of Saratoga being considered one of the most decisive victories in American history It was on September 19th, 1777, during the American Revolutionary War, that the British Royal Army advanced on the American camp in three groups - two through the heavy forests that covered the region and the third, comprising of German troops, came down the river road. American scouts detected and tracked the British troops and at midday a three-hour battle ensued in a clearing known as Freeman Farm. Just as the British lines began to waver, the German reinforcements arrived, forcing the Americans to withdraw. Encouraged by their victory, the British entrenched themselves in the Freeman Farm area, waiting for support to arrive from New York. After three weeks, however, this support was yet to arrive, and supplies were diminishing while the American army grew stronger. The British decided to risk a second engagement and on October 7th, 1,500 men marched towards a clearing surrounded by woods, not realizing that they had exposed themselves to a surprise attack. By this time the Americans knew of the British movement, and at 3 pm the Americans staged the attack. Within an hour the British had lost more than 400 officers and men. Nightfall saved them from certain defeat, and they left their campfires burning and retreated north, having suffered over 1000 casualties over 3 weeks. After a miserable march in the mud and rain, they took refuge in a fortified camp on the heights of Saratoga. There an American force that had grown to nearly 20 000 men surrounded the exhausted British Army, and on October 17th, the British surrendered. By the terms of the convention of Saratoga, the 6000 men marched out of their camp "with the Honors of War", stacking their weapons along the west bank of the Hudson River. Thus was gained one of the most decisive victories in American and world history: The Battle of Saratoga. For more information about this battle Click Here

To discharge such responsibilities, Saratoga Technologies has board members with broad experience and independent judgment. All our board members, whether executive directors or non-executive directors, have experience, judgment and are persons of good reputation and integrity who have never failed to speak their minds. Saratoga Technologies has regular board meetings chaired by the non-executive Chairman of the group. Our approach is for directors to probe with hard questions which stretch management so that, within a context of mutual respect, board meetings deal in depth with the core issues that Saratoga confronts. By the same token all directors are expected to have even greater involvement and participation in Saratoga, in understanding the company and advising the management team. Directors need to be our most constructive critics and our wisest advisors.
