Bournemouth YMCA

Problem: Whilst the YMCA's IT systems had been operating reasonably adequately, there were problems experienced with emails, and a number of third parties were involved with supporting different aspects of the infrastructure. The YMCA was looking for a total solution to their problem - a true one-stop shop. Not wanting to divide their problem up into slices that different vendors could each have, they continued to wait for a better way of doing business. Then they met Saratoga Technologies.

Solution: After extensive discussion, we came to an understanding of exactly how they worked as a business, what their problems were and why they were unhappy with their current situation. We proposed that for a single monthly fee, we would rollout new servers across their offices around the region, recofigure their workstations, rationalise and centralise control of their email, train their staff on the new system and install, configure and maintain all equipment and software.

Outcome: They now are utilising their systems more efficiently, and are increasing productivity every day. They are constantly looking for new ways of using technology to improve communications and simplify processes. They are continuing to work with us in a partnership relationship so that we can bring our knowledge and experience of technology to bear in their planning and development.

 

Moyles Court School

Problem: The school's IT facilities were based on outdated technology which made it difficult for their teaching staff, and frustrating for their pupils. In addition, they were keen to avoid the capital outlay generally associated with the installation of a new IT system, and also wanted local support and service.

Solution: Since we are local and have service staff available in the area and have great pricing on all of our offerings, we won a competitive bid to roll out a brand new suite of computers, including a new server, firewall and software packages. We standardised the image on the hard drive, so that all applications and drivers were the same. We accomplished the rollout in one week. We also provide ongoing support and proactive maintenance. The entire solution, including the support, was achieved via a single monthly payment, thus avoiding any up-front costs.

Outcome: Moyles Court has increased network speed and is more secure due to the configuration implemented by Saratoga. We have covered their server under contract so they do not have to worry about additional costs for the next three years. We also provide consultancy and advice to the school, and have recently completed a wireless upgrade to the network, providing access to resources in previously unreachable parts of the site. Day One

Problem: As an international supplier of books and related materials, Day One wanted to revitalise their online presence. With increasing competition from larger sites such as Amazon, there was a desire to have a site that was both visually appealing and simple to use, with the sort of functionality that is now expected from a retail website.

Solution: After several meetings and conversations, we put together a proposal for a brand new custom-built website, with full "shopping cart" functionality. The site includes an administrative area for their staff to add and edit books listed, and is soon to be launched as an international site, with pricing and shipping costs determined automatically based upon the user's location.

Outcome: A faster and more reliable website, together with better search engine rankings, has given Day One the Internet solution they were looking for, together with a simple interface and easy-to-use management system.

 

English 2000

Problem: Unhappy with their current provider of IT, English 2000 were unsure of the best way forward. They encountered Saratoga at a local business-to-business exhibition, and we arranged to carry out a free technology review.

Solution: After learning about their current structure and network needs, we proposed that that they allow us to manage their server. This would allow them to reduce costs and increase network efficiency, along with giving them peace of mind that a local, professional company was on hand to assist with any problems or issues they might experience.

Outcome: They are currently having fewer problems, have increased uptime and are getting all of their IT needs met. In fact, this is a common problem for many small businesses - they are large enough that they do need some IT assistance, but often they don’t really need 40 hours of work per week.
